Groups and MinistriesMount Vernon has many active groups within the church, some for fellowship and some specifically for service. They include:
 United Methodist Women. Women of all ages and backgrounds come together to support world and local mission projects. And in doing that, women find friendship and form lasting bonds. Mount Vernon UMW has four small groups or circles that meet monthly. Circles provide an opportunity to get to know other women of faith. We talk, we laugh, and we share.  The Prayer Group. Prayer plays a key role in Mount Vernon's ministry. Every week, our dedicated Prayer Group meets to lift up special concerns to God in prayer. The Prayer Group maintains a list of individuals and families for whom prayers have been requested. If you or someone you know has a special need, contact the Church office so that we can offer support through prayer.  United Methodist Men. The pupose of the UMM is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will. A supportive fellowship, the UMM is open to men of all ages. Each month, the UMM sponsors an activity or event, either service related and geared toward spiritual growth. Check the calendar or call the Church office for information about upcoming programs. For information about UMM generally, check out http://www.gcumm.org/.Mount Vernon UMC Drama Group. The Mount Vernon players sponsor two or three events every year.  The actors also contribute their dramatic talents to Sunday worship. All are welcome, whether you want to act, sing, build sets, design lights, cook meals, or just enjoy the fun and fellowship. No experience required! Contact the church office for more information. Softball Team. Mount Vernon sponsors a softball team and the 2008 season just ended. If you are interested in playing next year or just cheering them on, contact Henry Georgevich at biggieg@hotmail.com. You must be at least 15 years old to play.
